Remember! The consul does not act as an intermediary in accepting applications to supplement and correct the content of the marital status certificate – unless the applications are submitted together with the transcription application.

Supplementing the content of the marital status certificate

If the civil status record does not contain all the data that should be included in it, it can be supplemented. 

The procedure related to supplementing the content of the marital status record contains evidence limitations – in particular, it must be based on previously prepared marital status records (these may also be records of marital status from countries other than Poland or Senegal, in which case, however, it may be necessary to legalize the documents, more:  Legalization of an official document or other documents confirming marital status. 

It is not possible to supplement the marital status certificate on the basis of e.g. data from identity documents.

Correction of the content of the marital status certificate

If the marital status record contains data inconsistent with the data contained in the collective marital registration files or other marital status records, provided that they state an earlier event and concern the same person or his preliminary status, or with foreign marital status documents, they are subject to correction. 

As in the case of supplementing the content of the marital status certificate, the proceedings related to the rectification of the act contain evidence limitations – in particular, it must be based on previously prepared marital status records (these may also be marital status records from countries other than Poland or Senegal, in which case it may, however, it may be necessary to legalize documents, more:  Legalization of an official document  or other documents confirming marital status. 

It is not possible to rectify the marital status record on the basis of e.g. data from identity documents.
