Valid passport document:
- entitles you to cross the border and stay abroad,
- certifies Polish citizenship,
- certifies the identity of the person indicated therein (in the scope of data contained in the document).
A passport issued to a person under 13 is valid for 5 years from the date of issue, and for a person over 13 – 10 years from the date of issue.
The passport contains a microprocessor with biometric data: facial image and fingerprints.
A temporary passport can be obtained by:
- persons temporarily staying in the Republic of Poland and abroad, to return to their place of permanent residence,
- persons staying abroad, while waiting for the delivery of a passport drawn up in the Republic of Poland (if they express such a wish and submit an application for this document),
- persons staying in the Republic of Poland and abroad, in documented emergencies related to the illness or funeral of a family member,
- persons staying in the Republic of Poland and abroad, in documented emergencies related to their professional activity,
- Persons where fingerprinting is physically impossible, and the impediment is temporary.
The period of validity of the temporary passport may not exceed 12 months from the date of its issue.
Remember!
The honorary consul does not issue passport documents.
When planning a trip abroad, familiarize yourself with the current regulations specifying the rules of entry and stay of foreigners in the territory of a given country, including – in terms of the required period of validity of the passport and the possibility of crossing the border on the basis of a temporary passport.
